Social Infratsructure Development Programme

Within the Social Infrastructural Development frame, FORCE-CAM carried our activities of infrastructural development which directly improves on the lives of the orphans we support or the community the orphans come from. The infrastructures include:

  • Home rehabilitation/Construction of orphans’ homes
  • Construction of latrines and washrooms for orphans’ families
  • Construction/Rehabilitation of gravity pull portable water systems for communities where orphans families live

Home Rehabilitations

Through the generous support of sponsors, FORCE-CAM carries out home rehabilitation project, repairing the homes of OVC’s, to make the homes safe for those who reside there.  Home repairs are carried out depending on the specific needs, some repairs involve providing security through placing doors and windows, while others involved major construction such as new roofs or complete new structures.  Through improving living conditions for our children and their extended families we hope to improve health conditions, limiting dust and mold, leaking and cold that are problems in most village homes.

Hygiene and Sanitation

In order to improve hygiene and sanitation at the homes of our beneficiaries, FORCE-CAM constructs latrines and bathing rooms to improve health of OVC’s and their families. Generally families use holes in the ground with no shelter, dilapidated non-functioning latrines or in some cases, the bushes.  By not using a specific area for waste collection the natural environment and water sources are at risk of contamination. FORCE-CAM accompanies the construction of these latrines and bathrooms with educational and sensitization talks on proper hygiene and sanitation.

Provision of Portable Water

Most of the communities in which FORCE-CAM beneficiary orphans live have scarcity of portable water. Most depend on rain water to drink during the rainy season. During dry season, the problem increases significantly and these communities only fetch water from stagnant and highly contaminated pool water. Within this challenge, FORCE-CAM after detail studies of possible construction portable water schemes in a  community, mobilizes resources from donors with community participation to rehabilitate or construct new portable water systems. Portable water is very vital for the health of the community and significantly impacts on their socio-economic activities and productivity.
